Obesity to me is a serious problem, not only because it reflects poorly on our country, but also because lives are lost to this matter, and it is dangerous. I was compelled to write about it satirically, to hopefully motivate those who need it, to live a healthier life. The ones who may agree with the article are more than likely the ones who aren't caught up in the cycle of trying to lose weight, then trying to maintain it, and gaining it all back again. But, I hope the satire offended my obese audience just enough to push them forward, and boost their desire for a better body, appearance, and life all together.
An article was the best choice for me because I know when someone reads the words and in between the lines, they will get the full meaning behind them, and truly take it to heart. The content of the article satirizes this issue because its intention is to be comical but in a serious way while addressing the problem. Hyperboles, irony, and a lot of sarcasm were used. The beginning talked about an America's routine, and when involuntary actions were listed, they became hyperboles. The entire essay was sarcastic -- especially the part when carrot cake was listed as a veggie dessert. Finally, the ironic thing is that the American has time to watch TV shows but not to walk for 10 minutes instead.
